On July 10th, 2024, Five Points Museum will reopen to the public with a selection of art cars from the
permanent collection of Ann Harithas. The cars in this exhibit were all made by artists considered “Best in Show” at national competitions, and display a wide variety of origin and techniques, including made from scratch creations by Mark “Scrapdaddy” Bradford and the whimsically aggressive “Rex Rabbit” by
California artist Larry Fuente. Also on view will be the lush assemblage of David Best, and the exquisite
detail of Corpus Christi’s Leal Brothers, as well as two Cadillacs of different vintages and styles.
Surrounding the cars will be a multimedia display featuring photographs from Art Car Parades throughout the years in both Houston and Victoria created by media curator Russell Fowler. In the photos, visitors will get a chance to see many art cars that no longer exist, in their parade-ready glory.
During the run of the exhibition, visitors may also get to witness real-time restoration of the art cars on
display, including paint touch-ups, re-gluing of pieces, and other work necessary to keep art cars looking
their best.
